Move from simple barcode reading to measurable print-quality grading
A code that decodes today may have too little quality margin for reliable scanning throughout the supply chain. Our grading solutions assess the characteristics that influence scan performance and provide production teams with a consistent quality threshold.
Grade the code, not just the decoder response
In-line grading can monitor linear barcode parameters aligned with ISO/IEC 15416:2025 and two-dimensional symbol quality aligned with ISO/IEC 15415:2024, subject to application-specific measurement conditions. It can identify deterioration in contrast, modulation, fixed-pattern damage, axial non-uniformity and other relevant features before codes become unreadable.
A production vision system is configured to your code type, substrate, print process and line conditions. Where a formal verifier report is required, we will define the measurement approach and any offline verification step during the project review.
What the system helps you achieve
Spot print deterioration
Support quality audits
Reduce downstream chargebacks
Need a clear ISO grading reference?
Our guide explains the roles of ISO/IEC 15415:2024, ISO/IEC 15416:2025 and verifier conformance standards.
From sample to a production-ready inspection
We define the pass criteria first, prove the imaging and data logic, then integrate the complete inspection and reject sequence.
Application review
Product, code, substrate, speed, line layout and data requirements.
Sample trials
Optics, lighting, resolution and achievable tolerance tested on real packs.
System integration
Camera, controls, guarding, reject and upstream interfaces engineered together.
Commissioning
Recipes, fault handling, training and agreed acceptance tests completed.
What manufacturers ask us
Every line is different. These are the practical questions that shape a dependable barcode verification project.
Ask an engineerWhat is the difference between barcode reading and grading?+
Reading confirms that a decoder can extract data from the captured image. Grading evaluates defined symbol-quality characteristics and indicates how much scanning margin the printed code has.
Which standards apply?+
Linear symbol print quality is covered by ISO/IEC 15416:2025 and two-dimensional symbol quality by ISO/IEC 15415:2024. GS1 application specifications add code, data and measurement requirements for GS1 use cases.
Can the grade threshold change by product?+
Yes. Recipe-controlled limits can be associated with a SKU, print process or customer specification, with access control where required.
