Catch missing and unreadable barcodes before they leave your line
Oxford Vision Systems designs in-line barcode inspection systems that check every pack at production speed. Confirm that the expected code is present, locate it within the inspection area and prove that its encoded data can be read before the product moves downstream.
Reliable reading is the first control point
A barcode can be present yet still fail at a retailer, warehouse or healthcare scan point. Low contrast, damaged bars, inadequate quiet zones, reflective packaging, print-head contamination and poor label placement can all reduce readability. A configured vision station checks the actual production result rather than relying on the printer command alone.
We combine appropriate optics, controlled lighting, triggering and product handling so the camera receives a consistent image. The inspection can be integrated above, beside or beneath a conveyor and can handle fixed or variable code positions where the application permits.
What the system helps you achieve
Reduce manual sampling
Identify print drift early
Create traceable inspection records
Use the in-line inspection specification checklist
Capture the code, pack, line-speed, data-interface and reject requirements needed for a useful sample trial.
Need an inline barcode verification system?
See how presence, decode, expected-data checks, grading and confirmed rejection fit into one line-side station.
Scanning, validation or formal verification?
Use the terminology guide to define the exact result the production line and quality team need.
From sample to a production-ready inspection
We define the pass criteria first, prove the imaging and data logic, then integrate the complete inspection and reject sequence.
Application review
Product, code, substrate, speed, line layout and data requirements.
Sample trials
Optics, lighting, resolution and achievable tolerance tested on real packs.
System integration
Camera, controls, guarding, reject and upstream interfaces engineered together.
Commissioning
Recipes, fault handling, training and agreed acceptance tests completed.
What manufacturers ask us
Every line is different. These are the practical questions that shape a dependable barcode verification project.
Ask an engineerCan the system inspect every pack?+
Yes. The inspection is designed around the line speed, product spacing and available field of view so every presented pack can receive a pass or fail decision.
Can you read codes on curved or reflective packaging?+
Often, yes. Lens choice, polarisation, lighting geometry and product presentation are selected during trials to control glare and distortion.
Can one camera inspect more than one barcode?+
Yes, provided the required codes can be resolved within the field of view. Multi-camera systems are available for different faces or wider coverage.
