2D code inspection

Verify QR and Data Matrix codes at full production speed

Compact 2D codes carry more information in less space, but cell damage, poor contrast, reflective packs and print distortion can quickly erode performance. We inspect QR, GS1 QR, Data Matrix and GS1 DataMatrix codes in-line and act on every failed result.

Application focus

Decode, inspect and validate the data structure

The station confirms the symbol is present and decodable, then checks captured content against the required rules. Depending on the application, that may include a fixed URL, GTIN, batch, expiry date, serial number or a complete GS1 element string. Print-quality monitoring gives early warning of contamination, ribbon wear, insufficient contrast or geometric distortion.

Camera resolution and lighting are chosen from the physical code size, module size, print method, substrate and inspection distance. Trials with real products allow us to prove a practical inspection window before final integration.

Common questions

What manufacturers ask us

Every line is different. These are the practical questions that shape a dependable barcode verification project.

Ask an engineer
Can the system check the destination of a QR code?+

It can confirm the encoded URL or data matches an approved value or pattern. Testing the availability and content of the web destination is a separate control that can be specified if required.

Can it verify very small Data Matrix codes?+

Potentially. We determine feasibility from module size, print quality, surface, line speed and available camera position, then validate with samples.

Can you inspect multiple 2D codes on one label?+

Yes, where the imaging resolution and field of view allow each required symbol to be resolved reliably.
