Case and pallet barcode verification before despatch

Verify that every case, tote and pallet carries the expected readable code and that its encoded identity matches the order, route or parent logistics unit.

Short answer

A logistics barcode verification system checks case or pallet code presence and readability, validates GS1-128 or SSCC data, ITF-14 data and compares the result with the expected order, route or product record before despatch.

Application focus

Control identity and readable data at the point of production

Codes on corrugated cases, shrink wrap and pallet labels face different contrast, size and position challenges. The station can read one or several sides, validate the required data fields, link cases to a parent pallet and divert failed logistics units before they reach loading or storage.

Oxford Vision Systems selects the camera, lighting, triggering, data interface and reject sequence around the real pack and line—not a generic laboratory image.

Production outcomes

What the system is designed to prevent

01

Unreadable cases entering distribution

02

Wrong order or route association

03

Invalid SSCC or shipping data

04

Unconfirmed failed-unit diversion

Common questions

Direct answers for project teams

Concise answers to the questions manufacturers ask when defining a barcode inspection application.

Ask an engineer
Can a system verify both case and pallet labels?+

Yes. Separate or combined stations can inspect case codes and pallet SSCC labels, subject to code size, label position, field of view and handling conditions.

Can the decoded code be checked against an order or route?+

Yes. The inspection can compare captured data with a PLC, warehouse record, production database, API or other approved source.

What happens when a case barcode fails?+

The configured action may divert the case, stop the conveyor, alarm an operator or route the item to rework, with reject confirmation where required.
